Karma Se7en Body Jewellery*

All jewellery arrives carefully
packed in a nice box and
individual containers that can be reused! :)
The summer of 2015 is approaching - finally - and those of you with body piercings will be wanting to show them off. In my most recent post I reviewed some products from the Body Jewellery Shop, yet I have recently discovered Karma Se7en - a website selling high quality body jewellery. As well as shipping worldwide the website is extremely accessible and easy to use with options to search the vast range of products by jewellery or metal type.
Karma Se7en stock ear and face piercings as well as the alternative of fake piercings for those wanting the look but not wanting to commit or simply test out the look before committing. Unlike many body jewellery websites high quality gold jewellery is also available.

Pink Opal Naval Bananabell - £7.95
Karma Se7en have a range of belly bars yet this is definitely my favourite. The iridescent opal looks great for summer and shines beautifully in the light. Perfect for anyone wanting something simplistically beautiful yet not overpriced. The jewellery is available in 8mm or 10mm and fits very comfortably. This also comes in 2 other colours (white and blue) as well as different designs.

Titanium Blue Zircon Cluster Naval Belly Bar - £6.95
This bar is also available in 8mm or 10mm with only the bottom ball featuring the sparkly blue cluster! Full of tiny stones to create a pretty effect the top has a glossed finish meaning non of the crystals will fall out. In the past I've had the problem of small stones falling out after a couple of months, yet this is sure to last a while making it worth the price if not more - a total high quality bargain. As only the bottom ball holds the crystals the look isn't too over the top and can be worn on a daily basis.

Available in 8mm this pastel coloured belly bar suits any type of skin, no mattered how pale or tanned! The lilac is eventuated by the white bar allowing it to stand out a little more. Unlike the other bars, the stem of this one is made from bioplast instead of surgical steel or titanium allowing for a comfier and more flexible fit. The pastel bar can be found in several different colours as well as different styles including gems within some.

Buttercup Upper Ear and Tragus Stud - £3.99
I was incredibly excited for this product to arrive and certainly not disappointed. The stud can be worn in the upper ear, tragus, lobe or anti-tragus piercings, yet personally I've been wearing it on the middle of my cartilage/helix. This tiny buttercup gives such a cute yet understated look and would look adorable on anyone! The detail is incredibly noticeable and beautifully designed. The buttercup is detailed yet remains simplistic looking and works well with other piercings or alone.

This ring as opposed to ball closure rings allows for a more circular look rather than having a bulky closure ball mid-ring. Although pretty hard to put in and do back up, with some practice or the right tools (such as ring opening pliers) it is manageable. Perfect for helix/cartilage piercings giving a more discrete look. Made from surgical steel the ring is comfortable and safe to wear as many cheap rings can rust quickly or disagree with your skin! At only £1.95 you're getting a high quality product compared to other rings you may find of the same price elsewhere.

Throughout Karma Se7ens website there is a Buy One Choose One Free offer on EVERY PRODUCT which is fantastic! No matter what you buy on the site you can get another piece of jewellery for free! Many customers may miss the chance to take advantage of this offer if unaware. This should be made the most of as not many sites have offers like this that apply to all items! Have a browse and you are bound to find something to your taste.
Also, give their Facebook page a like to keep updated with the newest offers and products.

Body Jewellery Shop* and piercing pain!

Those of you that are pierced will know how expensive different piercing jewellery can be, especially from piercing/tattoo shops! Of course you'll be wanting something that is good quality and that can't always be found online, yet the Body Jewellery Shop stocks a whole range of high quality jewellery! They also have free shipping worldwide when you spend over £10.
All different types of body jewellery are available - practically every type you can think of - as well as gifts, fancy dress, fashion accessories and nail polish! Particularly great for ear piercings!

Rainbow Curved Cone Bell & Threaded Accessories - £5.95
I was so excited for this, in the summer I got my rook pierced so this jewellery is perfect for it. Additionally this bar can be used for conch piercings, lobe, brow and septum! You get 8 coloured cones for plenty of choice and would look fab for an eyebrow piercing imo. For just under £6 you're getting 8 coloured cones too whereas many retailers sell 1 bar for over £6. High quality bargain!
Definitely the trickiest to put in, but with some patience its do-able. The cones give an edgy look as opposed to simple studs.

Pink Glitter UV Labret Stud - £1.95
This glittery labret stud that sparkles in the light is perfect for anyone wanting to feminise their piercings a little more. Looks much prettier for summer rather than a plain silver ball as well as going well with a tan. It comes in up to 7 different colours (or 13 including singular uv glitter balls) as well as being extremely comfortable to wear. A low price for a good quality surgical steel labret bar with a UV-reactive acrylic ball - reputable piercing shops often sell products of the same quality for £8 or more! You get a choice of either a 1.2mm labret with a 3mm ball or a 1.6mm labret with a 4mm ball. Great to wear with ear lobe/cartilage piercings but can be worn with lip/madonna piercings too.

Silver & Steel Ball Closure Ring, Large Outward Star - £2.95
This is so cute and far easier to put in than I originally thought it would be. As the star faces outwards this jewellery can be used for ear piercings (lobe, orbital, cartilage), lip and even naval if desired. The surgical steel ball closure ring is a great way to replace an otherwise ordinary ring piercing.

Give the website a browse if you're in need of new piercing jewellery and I can guarantee you will find something you love within the first 5 minutes!
Also, give their Facebook page a like, great company and products!!

I'm often asked how much my piercings hurt, I only have 11 and to be honest I didn't find any of them that bad, keeping in mind everyones pain tolerance is different! Pain out of 10 (for me):

- Mid cartilage: 4/10

Panic: an enemy and a friend.

I will be writing a blog post soon on how to cope/deal with panic attacks as far more suffer with them than you realise. For now, I was asked by my therapist to write a description of how they can be an enemy as well as friend. This will probably be deleted, but I thought I'd share it anyway.

-

An intruder of your thoughts, feelings, behaviour and bodily responses... otherwise known as a panic attack. It has the ability to drown you under a thick layer of anxieties, keeping a tight grip as you struggle for air. This may be gradual, like a room slowly closing in on you, or all at once as though a tidal wave is sweeping you off your feet. Blocking all rational thoughts whilst swamping your mind with dread and a sense of growing urgency to escape, yet you lack the ability to suppress the enemy within your mind. It proves its power by triggering the shaking of limbs, the loss of breath and distorted vision, you are temporarily a guest within this body. Although now a viewer of this mind and body everything feels just as intense. Any attempt to seize back the power of your imagination fails or is somewhat subtle; you cannot harness it. It doesn't matter how determined or strong-willed you are, it is equally as determined because it's you. The self destructive part of you.

A deterrent from all that is threatening, prompting you with cognitive and physical awareness of suspected risks. The alarm you can rely on to keep sounding until you are out of danger, no matter what you do to turn it off, to let it know it was wrong. It acts as as hypocritical protector. Cloaking you with awareness yet causing what it looks to avoid; fear. It cares a little too much, the type of care that smothers you. It triggers helpful devices, the mist or sensation of glass shielding you from judgement. The recognition that there is not a physical protector with you and that you have your own, inside your head.

Outfits that sparkle n shine☾

-muchshineymuchpretty-
Anyone who knows me personally will know my love of all things glittery, sparkly, shiny or just magical looking in general. My love of this fairy-like look often influences my outfit and make-up choices.

Lace, velvet, floral, fluffy;
a summary of my favourite pieces.
My favourite outfit over the Christmas period was the combination of a summery looking dress - I'm that girl that wears dresses throughout winter, the weather won't stop me expressing my incredibly girly style - and holographic heels.

This stunning dress from Motel Rocks is best for summer but can easily brighten up a dull winters day paired with a warm coat!! All their items are amazing but this dress in particular is just such a favourite. It seems to be suitable for any event and always catches peoples eye.

The holographic-look heels are from Topshop. These 'Pewter Brit Lace Up Boots' are still available in black but no longer in pewter. They either aren't stocked or are entirely sold out as when they were first released they seemed to - understandably - sell out instantly!! Paired with a pair of plain black socks (or my personal favourite, glittery socks) they are perfect for a night out but can be toned down with a casual outfit to be worn in the daytime too, easily paired with jeans or a dress.
They are possibly the most gorgeous shoes I've ever owned and have received so many compliments. Several people have said something along the lines of "I wouldn't wear them but I love/really like them!!"
They are unique and eye-catching, so whether it's that many wouldn't have the confidence to wear them, they wouldn't go with your typical wardrobe or they just aren't what you'd usually wear, I would highly recommend finding something similar.

If you like it, wear it.

Sadly they haven't kept their stunning shine and are incredibly scuffed already, reviews claim that they crease easily but part of the issue may be my fault as I seem to just be awful with keeping shoes well worn. Dragging feet? Tripping up stairs?

Head over heels.

Excuse the messy background.

Although the heel seems to be rather large they are one of the comfiest pairs of shoes I've ever owned, including those without a heel. They didn't take much breaking in and are easily to walk (and run) in. They come up as being a little big so 2 pairs of socks is usually good or just a thicker pair.

2/2.5" heel

Additionally, sparkles and glitter isn't all that has been featuring in my outfits lately. Velvet has been in all the shops the past few months and is on practically anything wearable at the moment, whether it be shoes, dresses, skirts, shorts, hair ties, jumpers, coats etc.

Velvet AND glitter!?!
This velvet dress from American Apparel in 'crushed blue ice' has been described as my 'princess dress' which seems rather accurate. The crushed velvet catches the light and is great for evenings as well as in the day.

Worn separately - there is surely such as thing as a velvet overload - these shoes from Topshop (once again sold out, found in the sale) are extremely comfortable and casual, yet still enough to add something to an otherwise plain outfit.

"Everybody love things that sparkle."

"Some girls were just born with glitter in their veins."

"I can't do it."

I haven't posted in a while and that in itself is linked to this post. Someone described my blogging as being a bit of a one hit wonder or phase the other day, even though when I started it was something I seemed to be quite passionate about and enjoy. My first few posts consisted of things I liked to write about but then I was faced with the dilemma as to whether I should write about what I wanted to or what readers wanted to (thus getting increased blog views.)
This was pretty dumb because at the end of the day seeing my views increase to 1000+ was exciting, but writing about cliched matters that the majority of my twitter followers/facebook friends will click on is boring which is why I wasn't motivated to write.
This is for me and it'll be lovely if others read and delight in sharing views/opinions, but if not I'm not going to make this feel like a task in order to raise my view count.

'Don't run before you can walk'
is something I hear often. With 2015 beginning everyone is setting themselves new goals and raising ambitions along with self doubt soon to be approaching. Everyone doubts their abilities at some point, this is fair enough as we can't all be constantly self confident - if you are, how!?!? - but the issue is when you allow others to encourage the doubting of yourself!

Ever been told by a parent not to aim so high as they don't want you to be disappointed? Or by a friend that things may not work out as well as you're planning? Sometimes we do get ahead of ourselves, but from witnessing those around me be put down time and time again it seems as though we believe the negative and dismiss the positive far too often!!

When we listen to the voices around us, follow and believe them, we are giving our power away to others, or even to our own fears.
Firstly, any friend or family member that regularly leaves you with that 'oh :(' feeling isn't doing their job properly. Everyone has had that friend in the past that leaves you feeling uncertain of achievements or snidely criticises you a little too often. But why should this have ANY impact on your motivation or self belief?? What gives them a better insight to your future?? Nothing.

If anything, people doubting you should serve as MOTIVATION:
* someone underestimating or overestimating your size motivating you to continue gaining or losing weight
* a friend not-so-jokingly implying you lack intelligence motivating you to do better in exams
* a parent claiming you'll fail if you don't start working harder
* someone claiming you're not over him/her encouraging you to move past the past
* doubts that you can't recover from a bad-patch
- you get the point...

Lately putting one another down just seems to be an issue, whether it be slut-shaming (don't get me started) or trying to protect others from failure a little too much.
If you want to do something, and you believe you can, go for it. Don't let others - or yourself - assume failure when you have every chance of succeeding!!

To Gig Or Not To Gig?

As a slightly inexperienced - yet enthusiastic - concert goer the world of gigs is still fairly new to me. A few nights ago (23/11/14) I went to The Hunting Party Tour where I saw Linkin Park and Of Mice and Men at the o2 arena London; it was undoubtedly AMAZING.
However, at this gig (and others) I've noticed the same irritating patterns occurring. Don't get me wrong, I adore live music. I found myself singing along to the lyrics and smiling more than ever as the crowd moved and the lights flashed. The atmosphere is immense and everyone seems to transform once in the arena/venue. There might be occasional fights at concerts but mostly the hordes of fans are friendly, often striking up conversations with one another in the queues. Everyone knows they are there for the same reason and that they all share a common love of the band/artist. When you're there and the music is filling the air nobody cares. Nobody. Amongst the 20,000 populating the arena all that anyone felt was the music. It's pretty easy to get caught up in the positive vibes, the heat of the crowds, and the excitement of experiencing music with the ability to get your blood racing & your heart pumping. I may or may not have begun to sound like a bit of a hippy by now but idc, a gig is one of the few places where you can walk - run/skip/shove - your way through the doors, endure the ticket and security checks, going on to forget everything. Leave all your problems or worries outside and allow yourself to become immersed in the overwhelming lyrical projections accompanied by heavy bass vibrations or mellowing acoustics. You don't know when you'll see the band again or if you ever will, for first timers the music smashing through the crowds is a very different yet lively and appealing feeling.
The following 5 minor irritations would never ruin a gig for me, personally, but can get in the way of living within the moment, along with being able to squeeze every ounce of enjoyment from the experience in order to leave with memories that will leave you smiling for weeks.

1) Not in the arena? In the camera!
I understand you want to capture memories through photos and videos; we all want something to look back on. But what on earth is the point of being there if you're going to WATCH THE ENTIRE GIG THROUGH THE SCREEN OF YOUR PHONE!!???? I will never understand this!! At least look up from the screen? Or maybe take a few photos, go mad and take enough to fill an album. But there's only a certain amount you can take before they all begin to look the same? Right? You paid good money to watch the gig, yet you're staring at the screen of your phone - not even smiling - and adding to the huge amount of crappy quality videos that are going to appear on youtube the next day? It's also extremely inconsiderate to hold your flippin' phone/camera so high that you block the smaller peoples view of the band *ahem.*

2) Checking Twitter/Facebook/Instagram/etc every 10 minutes.
Let me get this straight, you've paid £30-70 (or more?) for this show... and you're checking social media? You're more interested in the moany 'so tired today' tweets rather than the ACTUAL BAND PLAYING LIVE in front of you?? Fair enough, have a quick look every now n then, maybe between songs or whatever, but idegi. I cannot fathom why you wouldn't want to live in the moment and get into the music?

3) Getting so drunk you act like a dick or throw up.
At most concerts you see the caretaker scurry out at some point to clean something unpleasant up. Drinking at a concert? Fab. Have fun!! But please, don't be vomit guy. That's the worst kind. If you're in the standing area its just a stupid move to drink so much you throw up, leaving everyone else awkwardly dodging the messy area and putting up with the smell for the rest of the show. Yuck.

4) PUSH, SHOVE, PUSH.
Mosh pits and standing areas involve a lot of physical contact and shoving, that is to be expected. Yet people at the front of general admissions have earned their spot. They may have tirelessly stood outside for hours, or even camped out... just for some moron to shove their way right to the front? Fighting your way through the crowds to find a great place is always fun, but surely some kind of consideration can be maintained? Especially those who are 5'9+... why do you feel the need to stand in front of those who are 5'2? WHAT ARE YOU GAINING? To add to this aggravation, if you know you're going to be in general admissions, why take a massive bag in with you? It's just going to weigh you down and whack everyone around you.

5) Groping.
Usually concerts are full of rather young girls or adolescent females. Many - not all - males take this opportunity to commit casual sexual assault. Let's sum this up in 5 simple words eh? For those males who feel entitled to take what they want? GIG. GROPING. IS. NOT. ACCEPTABLE.
It's easy to bump into or touch someone inappropriately by mistake in packed spaces, but intentional groping? Really? Many young teenage girls will just let it happen, won't say anything, and many males know this. I could write a whole post on this, - but enough have been written - it's just degrading and disgusting. You're taking the opportunity to touch women without their consent which DOES count as a form of sexual assault, but you reckon it's just having a cheeky feel or 'banter'?
Cannot emphasize enough what an issue this is.*

The next time you're at a gig, don't be one of these people, just LIVE IN THE MOMENT and be considerate!! Why walk in there and do everything possible to irritate those attempting to rock out n have a laugh around you?

No fake tickets here:
http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/

* to be clear I am not being sexist, I simply specified males as although females commit casual sexual assault too the MAJORITY of perpetrators are statistically male.

HOW DO YOU STAY SO HAPPY?

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

2014, the year of the seemingly average teenager being depressed. I'm not referring to clinical depression, but the general term indicating low-lows and continuously dampened moods. The question I often get asked from friends/twitter followers is something along the lines of 'How do you stay so happy/positive?'

Excuse the bad grammar of this ask.fm anon, but it was too cute not to include.
I've never been quite sure of how to answer this question, but as I've become more accepting of my own state of mind, I've wanted to help other people change their way of thinking. Firstly, nobody is happy every single second for 365 days a year. Nobody. Human nature is to experience a variety of emotions including happiness, but also sadness, anger, jealously, excitement, confusion... and many more!! I don't think I would want to be happy all the time because I would become something of an emotionless robot. There is no secret. Just one key word. Perspective.

You can always take control of your emotions and guide them to a certain extent. Yes, they are spontaneous and somewhat out of your control, but your way of thinking can certainly trigger positive emotions. This may sound far easier said than done, but it's actually not. Life throws circumstances at you that inevitably make you feel sad/negative. Bad exam results? Relationship problems? Insecurities? Family issues? It's not an easy ride. But 'life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond to it.' For example, person A might miss their train, miss half their first lesson of the day at college, only to arrive and find out they got a bad grade in a mock exam. They feel awfully discouraged, almost hopeless. They feel as though they are failing at everything, that this is the grade they are stuck with and that the lessons topic is harder to understand due to missing half an hour of it. Coincidentally, person B had exactly the same morning. However, they realise this mock grade is only a stepping stone. Yes, it was a disappointment, but they have feedback on what to improve on and are more determined than ever to do better. This resolve continues and motivates them to spend extra time on the topic covered in that mornings lesson as they missed teaching time.

Perspective.

Both positivity and negativity are incredibly contagious. You spend time with someone who smiles often, you will begin to. You spend time with someone who is always in a negative mood, you will begin to feel the same way. All in all it comes down to surrounding yourself with remarkably clichéd thinking patterns that can actually be exceedingly effective in maintaining a positive attitude. Upbeat music that triggers love n positivity (The Kooks always work without fail), reading your favourite book, looking at old photos, watching a comedy... anything!!! Everyone has 'happy triggers.'
When sadness looms it may be conquerable by simply thinking "you know what, screw this, I want to be happy so I'm going to be happy." This must be your choice for you!!! Nobody else. To benefit you. You have the ability to deal with the issue or push it to the back of your mind, whichever it takes to make yourself happy. Let's be clear, I don't mean make yourself in reference to 'fake smiling' and pretending. I mean genuinely changing your current emotion. Making yourself think happy. Think positive. Think sparkles n love because you can?? Because you have that ability?? Because a little sadness sporadically is a healthy outlet, but too much of it is mentally, physically, and socially damaging!!
If you're trying to drag yourself out of weeks (or even months) of misery, despondency, despair and negative thinking suddenly 'being' happy won't feel natural. It won't. It may even feel like you're pretending. Maybe you are? But trying, trying to believe it, and wanting it, deciding you've had enough works. You'll get into the habit of thinking positively and being in a natural state of happiness just as quickly as one may have got into a frenzy of hardcore gloominess.

***DISCLAIMER: this post is aimed at those who are stuck in or suffering with low moods. Not those diagnosed with clinical depression or other ongoing symptoms as I understand there may be a biological/chemical cause and you cannot simply 'change' that or just 'be' happy, although adjusting your basic thinking patterns may still help.***

Curious Introduction

Well, this is my first ever blog post - the first of hopefully many to come. I'm not happy with my URL and I will figure one out eventually but for now, my twitter/instagram username shall do; shameless self promotion already!??
Maybe we should start with the 5 w's (can you tell I'm an English student?) - who? what? when? where? why?

I'm - currently - a 17 year old college student living in London. Avid reader, aspiring psychologist, amazing procrastinator, and advocate of all things pretty n sparkly. My perpetual positivity essentially results in someone who is ridiculously happy all the time, whether that's annoying or not is your decision to make. I started this blog as I have a passion for writing and expressing my views, the feeble allowance of 140 characters on twitter just isn't enough anymore to satisfy my need for opinionated expression.
The term 'dream' has always seemed somewhat soppy to me, yet if it needs to be put that way, my dream is indeed to become a clinical psychologist.
"The mind is like an iceberg, it floats with one-seventh of its bulk above water." - Sigmund Freud.
I believe that you can never discover the entirety of any one iceberg, yet you can look at innumerable icebergs and discover a significant pattern. The mind is truly captivating. There will never be one quite like another, every minor experience can have an immense impact on our behaviour as well as essentially our existential being. The human mind is comparable to the view from the window of a train journey. Every time you take a look at it, something different will appear, another path, another kink, another explanation. If you separate the human mind and all its many complexities from the body what are you left with? An empty case, a shell of a being, a loss of fragility? We are our minds, nothing else.

Along with being in awe of anything psychology related, I'm obsessed with bands (the kooks, alt-j, blink 182, moose blood, twenty one pilots, death cab for cutie, you me at six, the wonder years etcetc), books, and the wonderful Joseph Gordon-Levitt; I will never tire of 500 Days of Summer.

Whether nobody reads this, a few people do, or the majority of my 16,000+ twitter followers (plsSss what world am I in now, am I delusional?) it's for the purpose of enhancing my writing skills, and simply expressing my views on social issues.
